The Westye F. Bakke Center

Named for the founder of the Madison, WI based appliance manufacturer, the Westye F. Bakke Center features a cherry-paneled auditorium, multiple food preparation and dining areas, multiple bars and service areas, and showcases cutting-edge materials and design.

Hillcraft manufactured and installed the sizable project, which took place over a 6 month period, and required over 2500 hours of installation labor. Featured products include Formica, Nevamar, WilsonArt, Interlam, Laminart and Chemetal laminates, Corian solid surface (much of it thermoformed), Silestone Quartz surfacing, Stainless steel casework and countertops, and cherry hardwoods and veneers. Unique materials included Art Diffusion wall paneling with copper polyester finish, Pyrolave glazed countertops (quarried in a volcanic region in France, resulting in the most durable countertop material currently available), Imago acrylics, and massive Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) stair treads at the Monumental Stair.

Watch for this world-class facility to be featured in many of the architectural magazines in the coming months.
